Will Duerden, who began playing double bass at the age of seven, first performed at Wigmore Hall during his time as a pupil at the Yehudi Menuhin School and gave his solo debut recital here with Svitlana Kosenko last season. The duo partners return with a beguiling programme built to show the many facets of the double bass, from the impassioned lyricism of Robert Schumann’s Adagio to the jaw-dropping virtuosity of Bottesini’s Fantasia on tunes from Donizetti’s Lucia di Lammermoor.
