Margaret Fingerhut piano
40 years have passed since Margaret Fingerhut recorded the diverse pieces created by six French composers from a five-note motif based on the letters of Haydn’s name. She sets them in company with Debussy’s seductive Hommage à Haydn, a wistful miniature enlivened by a flourish of fleeting notes and thunderous chords, evocations of the spirit of other composers from Belle Époque Paris, and two delicious servings from Reynaldo Hahn’s ‘The Bewildered Nightingale’.
