Ignas Maknickas piano

Born in California and raised in Lithuania, Ignas Maknickas held a 2024-5 Aud Jebsen Piano Fellowship at London’s Royal Academy of Music, where he had formerly received the Queen’s Award for Excellence as the conservatoire’s highest-scoring graduate. He directs his highly expressive pianism to music by Mikolajus Konstantinas Čiurlionis (1875-1911), one of the forefathers of contemporary Lithuanian culture, two of Chopin’s poetic Nocturnes and the engrossing lyrical outpourings of Beethoven’s penultimate piano sonata.
