Glen Inanga piano; Sodi Braide piano
African Pianism, a concept coined by composer Akin Euba, is a distinctive style associated with the Nigerian Art Music School, blending African musical traditions with European piano techniques through the adaptation of indigenous rhythms and vocal idioms to the keyboard. This programme features two internationally acclaimed Nigerian pianists and alumni of the Musical Society of Nigeria MUSON, performing Fred Onovwerosuoke’s Duo Piano Sonata and selected solo piano works from Nigeria’s rich 20th-century art music tradition.
