Swing, sway and shake your way through the worlds of jazz and funk at a welcoming dance session with Grounded Movement.
Led by Temujin Gill and Sunanda Biswas, the renowned choreographic duo behind Grounded Movement, these workshops focus on the interconnected dance styles of jazz and funk.
Pick up some moves for dancing the iconic 1930s Lindy Hop and explore the expressive and interactive styles of the funk social dances that emerged later.
These culturally connected dance forms are the perfect opportunity to build up a vocabulary for classic partner and social funk dances whilst also developing your own ability to break away and freestyle to a groove.
Resident dancers Damien Anyasi and Natasha Khamjani provide seated adaptations and alternatives for every body so you can light up the dance floor and discover new rhythms.
You don’t need to be a dancer, have experience or bring a partner: Mix & Move is just about getting together and getting going to the music!
Each Mix & Move event offers you the chance to explore different forms of dance, learn new moves and meet new people. Running in blocks of three, come along to get to grips with a dance style for two sessions, and then break out your moves in the final social dance session, celebrating the sounds and the moves of the dance.
