Cardboard Citizens: The Meaning of Home

Use art, play and imagination to explore what home means to you and your family at a workshop inspired by Jacqueline Wilson’s The Bed and Breakfast Star. What makes a place feel like home? Your bed, your toys, your family, the memories you’ve made there? Join theatre company Cardboard Citizens for a creative family workshop exploring the meaning of home, inspired by Jacqueline Wilson’s beloved book The Bed and Breakfast Star. By the age of ten Elsa, the main character, had already slept in nine different beds. Despite this, she has strong ideas about what home could be. Through art, play and imagination join us to explore what home means to you. Cardboard Citizens creates work with and for people who experience homelessness or poverty. Through theatre and art, they explore, interrogate and challenge the injustices most alive in our society – creating powerful narratives that resonate across sectors and helping individuals change their stories, while also changing the story society tells about homelessness.
