After Dark: Samba Café – Chineke! Orchesta
Guitarist Plínio Fernandes and violinist Braimah Kanneh-Mason join forces with a Chineke! Orchestra cellist for an intimate performance of Latin American music. The performers have chosen some of their favourite works for this relaxed late-night performance. The programme begins with a selection of solo Brazilian folk songs by Sérgio Assad and Dilermando Reis, before Fernandes and Kanneh-Mason continue their journey through South America with Argentinian composer Astor Piazzolla, including his famous ‘Café 1930’. Finally, the duo are joined by a cellist from the orchestra for the last two movements of Paganini’s Terzetto, blending his famous virtuosity with a more intimate chamber style.
