Gilded Age Fashion
Step into the dazzling world of 'Gilded Age Fashion' with author Elizabeth Block in conversation with art and dress historian Jacqui Ansell. Elizabeth and Jacqui will discuss the sumptuous gowns created by the founders of couture, including masterpieces from the legendary House of Worth, and share the stories behind the women who wore these opulent outfits. Drawing on Elizabeth's richly illustrated book, explore the glamour, etiquette and social politics that shaped America's elite in the late 19th century. Featuring treasures from the Metropolitan Museum of Art and other hidden troves, this conversation brings life to the Gilded Age. Copies of ' Gilded Age Fashion ' will be available at our Gallery and online shops soon. This event is also available in the Pigott Theatre .
