Shame
Michael Fassbender tears up the screen as a sex addict barely holding his life together in Steve McQueen’s devastating portrayal of family trauma and self-destruction. For Brandon, the city’s nightlife is a hunting ground. By day, he’s a respectable executive holding on to his sanity by a thread, while after dark he is beholden to his sex addiction. When his sister Sissy lands in a whirlwind and asks to stay, the veneer of both their worlds begins to crack. Fassbender is electric as a man driven to the edge, under the unforgiving glare of Manhattan’s late-night glow. Contains themes of suicide.
