With English subtitles Total film programme running time 84min Sarah Maldoror’s poignant adaptation of Aimé Césaire’s play Et les chiens se taisaient unfolds in the storerooms of Paris’ Musée de l’Homme and is performed by the filmmaker with Gabriel Glissant. The second film sees the filmmaker invited to Miami but ends up meeting Aimé Césaire at the foot of Mount Pelée in Martinique. And in Regards de mémoire, writer Édouard Glissant evokes Haitian general Toussaint Louverture and weaves together a history of slavery with the memory of uprootedness in the poetry of Aimé Césaire. Restored in 4K with the support of MANSA (Maison des mondes africains). The screening of Rebellion on Tuesday 22 September will include a discussion curated and hosted by programmer and writer Jonathan Ali.
